Madem korkuyorsunuz o zaman çekin gidin derdim. Seneler senesi bu korkuyu yazmak istedim diyor.Romanının başkahramanları olan Posta Müdürü Remzi Bey ve karısı Melek Hanım'ın çileli yolculuğundan ve o dönem için şartları çok daha ağır olan postacılık mesleğinden bahseden Yaşar Kemal, O dönemde Anadolu'da postacıdan daha önemli bir kişi yoktu. Özellikle benim için postacı çok önemliydi. O zaman bana mektuplar geliyordu. Bu mektupları benden önce jandarmalar okuyordu. Bazen makale yazar gazeteye göndermek isterdim. Bu makaleler bazen gider, bazen de gitmezdi diye ekliyor. Yaşar Kemal'in 1960'ların sonunda yazdığı ve şimdi yayımlamaya karar verdiği Tek Kanatlı Bir Kuş romanı, okuru 1960'lı yılların Anadolusu'na götüren tarihi bir belge olmanın yanı sıra büyük ustanın edebiyatında önemli bir dönemi de gözler önüne seriyor.
