- Çalışmanın bütününe yakın bölümünde kendine özgü ve mozayik yöntemi diye adlandırılabilecek bir yöntemi uygulayan Benjamin, bütün bir dönemin kültür tarihini, genelde dikkat edilmeyen ayrıntılardan (döşeme biçimlerinden, giysilerden, akşam saatlerinin iş dönüşü kalabalığından, dedektif romanlarından, sokakların ışıklandırılmasından vb.) yola çıkarak, geliştirdiği kavramları ve dünya görüşünü yaşayan bir organizmanın kalıbı içerisinde sergiler. Pasajların bu kitapta toplanan metinleri, Walter Benjamin`in kendi öngörmüş olduğu, ama kendisi hayattayken basım aşamasına gelemeyen düzenlemeye sadık kalınarak bir araya getirilmiştir.Pasajlar (Passagenwerk), Alman düşünür ve kültür tarihçisi Walter Benjamin`in (1892-1940) ilk gençlik çağından başlayarak, ölümüne kadar üzerinde çalıştığı başyapıtıdır. 19. Yüzyıl`ın Başkenti Paris`le birlikte bu alandaki çalışmalarına başlayan, daha sonra yapıtını Baudelaire üzerine kaleme aldığı incelemelerle geliştiren Benjamin, Pasajlar`la, 19. Yüzyıl7ın kültür tarihini bütün toplumsal temelleri ve 20. Yüzyıl`a ait uzantılarıyla irdelemeyi öngörmüştür. Yazar tarafından tasarlanan kapsam içersinde Tarih Kavramı Üzerine Tekniğin Olanaklarıyla Yeniden Üretilebildiği Çağda Sanat Yapıtı, XIX. Yüzyıl`ın Başkenti Paris, Charles Baudelaire: Kapitalizmin Yükseliş Çağında Bir Lirik Şair ve Baudelaire`de Bazı Motifler Üzerine, Pasajlar`ın çeşitli aşamalarını oluşturur.
